Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I hadn't listened to DBT much in the last month or so, and the dam broke this weekend:
Complete Dirty South for the first time
Decoration Day
Plan 9 album
Alabama Ass-Whuppin
Blessing and a Curse
Part of a somewhat recent live show from a taper off my phone, but don't know exactly when or where it was or remember how it got on my phone.
I really really like Complete Dirty South. On any given day up until now, Dirty South would be at worst tied for my favorite DBT album. I was fine with the original versions of songs that Patterson re-did vocals on for this release, but the new versions work well too. The album as we'd known it up until now was pretty damn perfect, but the additional songs give the album more depth. It's 17 songs that were all intended for one release, and it's better than a lot of bands' career-spanning greatest hits albums.

This is a really pleasant surprise. I thought they were cancelled. Then they had that California Hotel album a few years back that I found pretty forgettable. This is most definitely a return to form, at least to my ears. "Me and George" is as good as any song they've ever written and recorded. Damn.

i finally saw them this year, they were playing a one day fest in Munster DE and i was over in NL for work so i rented a car and booked a room. man were they good!
New band to me, but really digging their sound.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
they do have a really great fuzzed out tone. you might also really dig a lot of the bands on El Paraiso, like Causa Sui, Mythic Sunship, Papir, Kanaan, etc. so many of those bands (like all?) never make it over here to play, just too expensive for them.cortez the killer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 11:34 amWould love to, but there's no way I can swing that date.tinnitus photography wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 5:45 pmyou gonna catch them at Desertfest NYC? i think it'll be only their second show ever in the US.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Good one. I rewatched Dog Day Afternoon last month for the first time in like 25 years and was mesmerized by the opening montage that featured the entire 5 minutes of Amoreena from Tumbleweed Connection. Such a great record. The movie held up really well too.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Really digging this one! Love the sleepy/trippy but rocking vibe and JJ's usual blending of genres. Also digging the ride that the Spotify algorithm took me on when the record finished playing yesterday. Took me on a deep dive of some really cool bands that I'd never heard of before.

Hope Mike is doing OK with his cancer treatments. I was supposed to see him a week ago but it got postponed.
