First listen: Best Springsteen in at least a decade, maybe 2. But I gots to know: Is the lack of guitars on "House of a Thousand Guitars" willfully perverse or some high concept that is going over my head? Can't see the young 'uns digging this one, but that doesn't apply to me and damn, it sounds real good. Looking forward to repeat listens and I can't remember the last time I said that about a Springsteen album.

“Waylon, you said you were going to do a whole album of my songs,” Shaver writes in Honky Tonk Hero. “I’ve got those songs, and you’re going to listen to them—or I’m going to kick your ass right here in front of God and everybody.”

Dion - Blues with Friends - First listen and I like it. Even late in an eventful life the cat's got more soul than any 10 people you or I know and then there's that voice which in some ways is even better than ever. The album fades towards the end, which is perhaps coincidentally also where most of Dion's found religious fervor comes to the fore. It's one of those "gimmick albums" featuring a load of "guests" but as guests go, these folks are choice.
NP: First listen to Isbell's Reunions.

I was pretty certain that the Jerry Joseph record was going to be my favorite of the year but now I'm not so surecortez the killer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 2:07 pmYeah, this is an excellent and unexpected pleasant surprise.beantownbubba wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 4:47 pmFirst listen: Best Springsteen in at least a decade, maybe 2. Been really getting into Tom Petty "Wildflowers & All the Rest". It wasn't my favorite when it came out but it sure has aged well. IMHO, it's his Beatles record. Definitely not a Heartbreakers record.

I’m listening to a band called Kendall Street Company; I’d heard of them a while ago but never taken the time to listen till now.

this is really good so far. it's a halloween-themed metal playlist via bandcamp, curated by the singer of Exhumed and Horrendous (both bands I've seen but i'd never made that connection).
