Definitely more literal to the songs themselves. Lots of Lou era titles that aren't directly referential to the lyrics.tinnitus photography wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 9:23 am
Love "Pieces" too.
you ever notice that once Lou left, the song titles got pretty generic? Without A Sound and Hand it Over... c'mon J you can do better than that!

I think a good number of you will enjoy this. "Shiver" is absolutely stunning.

I've been listening to the 3 track drops as they've come out this summer. Tyler Mahan Coe (Cocaine & Rhinestones/Your Favorite Band Sucks) must be friends with him, and pimps it incessantly on Twitter. My two favorites thus far are "Sins of the Father" and "All The Trouble".Mundane Mayhem wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 9:06 pm

Yeah, that's where I became aware of it, too. When the guy whose day job is shitting on bands calls something "the album of the year and it's not close," I guess you perk up and give it a listen.Iowan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 11:02 amI've been listening to the 3 track drops as they've come out this summer. Glad you like it! Interestingly, he's the son of Jody Payne (longtime Willie Nelson guitarist) and Waylon Jennings is his godfather.Clams wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 7:51 amNever heard of him but I like it. Thanks.Mundane Mayhem wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 9:06 pm

I can't do that podcast, either. Tyler seems like an interesting guy, but I don't much care for his podcast.tinnitus photography wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 6:15 pmi listened to one episode of Your Favorite Band Sucks (the Black Sabbath one) and couldn't even finish that one.

Cocaine & Rhinestones is stunningly good.
YFBS is just straight trolling. I get a kick out of it, but it's obvious that they don't actually think all of these bands suck, because they frequently refer to bands that they rip on as being good examples of what a shittier band was trying to do in another episode. It's poking fun at sacred cows. Episodes 1 & 2 were The Beatles and Stones, respectively.
That said, there are times when it seems like he's just trying to be an edgelord, and that gets old quick.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Yeah, I know the whole premise is "anything sucks if you work hard enough at finding reasons it sucks, so just be free to like what you like." Which is admirable in its way, but I just can't spend much of my time listening to people vociferously argue positions they don't actually believe in. I'd probably watch Fox News if I were into that.Iowan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 9:29 amCocaine & Rhinestones is stunningly good.

I've only listened to an episode or two of C&R but I did enjoy that one.

Listening to this now (for the second time). It's a damn fine record.
