What's Everyone Listening to?

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

“Wasted” (off of MMJ’s new record) is going to be so good live. Hopefully live music will happen soon...
Agreed. Just read an interview with Jim James where he says they have another record already in the can but are waiting until they can play live again to release it. Says the hiatus has re-energized the band. Sounds promising. I saw them way early before I (or anyone else) knew who they were opening for Guided by Voices. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Probably my old man's favorite album. I can hum every note of it and "Live in Japan" in my sleep.

My favorite memory of that album was driving up to Duluth in the dead of winter. 6 hour drive. The open door alarm in the old man's Ranger wouldn't go off, so he just turned Machine Head up so loud that you couldn't hear the alarm anymore.

It was cheap and effective.

Jason would approve of my last few records. Well, at least the album covers...

I love this album and miss this band. Andrew and Pete have certainly made great music individually but this was a special little band
Amen, TC. One of the most moving shows I've seen in recent memory, too, the one time I managed to catch them. We were about a year out from losing Jason Molina, and their cover of "Just Be Simple" reduced my wife and me to blubbering messes in a crowded little rock club. Special is right.
All it takes is one wicked heart, a pile of money, and a chain of folks just doing their jobs

Mid-70s punk rock made by three black brothers in Detroit.
In 1975 the band entered a studio to record a 12-song album. After refusing to change their group's name, Death was turned away by Clive Davis of Columbia Records. Only seven songs were completed and the album was never released.[3] The surviving songs were released as ...For the Whole World to See in 2009 by Drag City.[4]

Just prior to and right after the record's release, the songs on ...For the Whole World to See were performed live by Rough Francis, a band formed by the three sons of Death's original bassist. With the record's critical acclaim and praise from many other musicians, the two surviving members of Death reformed the band with a new guitarist to promote the record themselves.
