Listening to Rough & Rowdy ways again. Just bought the cd (along with Homegrown). R & R Ways is fucking amazing. It's 1 of those records that holds up to repeated listens. Bob's voice is fantastic & the band killer. It's on a par with Bowie's Blackstar as far as late career records go. We'll hope Bob is around to bask in the adulation for awhile unlike (sadly) Bowie. Definitely album of the year so far.

I'm digging it. I like the version of White Line better here than on Ragged Glory.

I like hearing the different, original version, but that Ragged Glory take is tattooed into my soul. I'm too invested and nothing can ever top it.

Temple of the Dog gets all the praise/press among the "grunge supergroups", but I think Mad Season kicks it's ass up and down the Pacific shoreline.

Vocals - Layne Staley (Alice in Chains)
Guitar - Mike McCready (Pearl Jam)
Bass - John Baker Saunders (The Walkabouts)
Drums - Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees)
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

Really liked this album when it came out and still do these many years later. A little too mellow for some and rubs others the wrong way but this was one cool side project.

Kyle Nix - Lightning on the Mountain (and Other Short Stories)

Solo debut from the Turnpike Troubadours' fiddle player. Every member of the band (sans Evan Felker, of course) plays on this. The musicianship and production are excellent. Fiddle driven country rock with lots of piercing guitar licks, and pedal steel. There are some great songs in here too. At 17 tracks, he left some fat in here, but I think there's an "All Things Must Pass" vibe of just getting all your songs out onto a record after being a side guy for the past decade.
