fiona people, did you guys know her already or did the collective hype reel you in?
i think bolt cutters is fantastic and deserves just about every word of praise, but i was already a big fan and idler wheel had been her masterpiece for me so far. i have no idea how i wouldve reacted to it going in totally fresh

been enjoying this a lot lately but cant quite shake the feeling she could do a lot more with the quite cool prepared piano/ambient sounds she creates. feels a bit like sounds in search of compelling performances. suppose it doesnt matter if i come back to it enough anyway

I've never done the deep dive, but I did enjoy Bolt Cutters with fresh ears.Shakespeare wrote:fiona people, did you guys know her already or did the collective hype reel you in?

And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

I'm a less than casual fan, was just curious from all the hype. Like I said, I've no doubt it's a good/great record (who am I to judge), but it aint my cup of tea.Zip City wrote:I've never done the deep dive, but I did enjoy Bolt Cutters with fresh ears.Shakespeare wrote:fiona people, did you guys know her already or did the collective hype reel you in?

Somewhere in between, but it was a more passing familiarity. I've been trying to do the deep dive since Bolt Cutters came out. Of the rest, I probably like When The Pawn... best so far, but subject to change with repeated exposure,.Shakespeare wrote:fiona people, did you guys know her already or did the collective hype reel you in?

All it takes is one wicked heart, a pile of money, and a chain of folks just doing their jobs

really makes me wonder how many gems paul westerberg is sitting on at this point, and if he'll ever feel like recording any of them
getting a ton of mileage out of this one. if youve followed any of scott mccaugheys work, particularly with peter buck, there are no surprises here but hes pretty much as good as it gets within his songwriting niche and this is a really strong set. patterson appears on backing vocals a few times

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
ive appreciated this for a while but playing it on a daily basis the last few months has me thinking it might actually be the greatest music ive ever heard. the companion disc of new recordings on last year's reissue plays as a hell of an appendix as well

Spinning some Statler Brothers for founding member Harold Reid who passed away yesterday.
Those guys did some really cool, out of the box tunes and got some of them on country radio.
