Zeppelin I
Not sure if there is another debut album that's as fully formed and full of highlights as this one. Holy shit. Most bands take a few records to get their legs, but Zeppelin came out like a band that had been making records for a decade.
I'm sure you'll all have other examples of strong debut records, but this one is tough to beat

Echoing Cortez, a perfect record really. If I could take, say, 25 albums to my desert island as opposed to the traditional 10, this would be one of them.dime in the gutter wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
One or two songs away from being a masterpiece.
Title track might be Top 5 all time Patterson riff. Song is now 15 years old....whatever beef the band has had with it, they need to build a bridge, dust it off, and let er' rip
Ditto "Goodbye"
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

I waffle between Todd and Cooley for greatest songwriter born after 1960.

Just need to get out a scalpel and hack my vinyl copy to bypass "Daylight" altogether.Iowan wrote:Welcome to the dark side.Zip City wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Was listening to this Sunday in the car. I imagine the memories associated with the time the album was conceived and recorded play no small part in the band's "issues" with it. But, like you, I think it's a really strong record. The title track is mammoth and "Goodbye" is top-tier DBT. I have grown to enjoy Jason's contributions to his last DBT album, including the much maligned "Daylight".Zip City wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
As a long time apologist for ABAAC, I've always thought the hate for the Jason songs was excessive.
Both of them would be in the top half of any of his solo albums. Daylight's always had a vulnerability that I love.

ABAAC was the first DBT release after I became a fan in 2005, I love every bit of it. It's still my favorite in their catalog.

Not sure there's a more "Keith" picture of Cooley out there.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I think "Daylight" is pretty bad, and "Easy on Yourself" is just okay. "TVA" and "When the Well Runs Dry" were in the can, and their inclusion would make this album top notchcortez the killer wrote:Was listening to this Sunday in the car. Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Other than the last part, that's my story, too. In my simpleton mind, when I first got into the band, Patterson brought a Skynyrd vibe, Cooley a Stones influence and Jason provided the Neil feel.bovine knievel wrote:ABAAC was the first DBT release after I became a fan in 2005, I love every bit of it.
