Here you go! this article can "one stop shop" it for you better than I could put it all together. Interesting dude all the way around. Too bad (for me) he moved to Austin years after my time thereClams wrote:Do tell. Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
today's song. the song is from ABBC, a collaboration between Calexico (joey Burns; john Convertino) and Amor Belham Duo (naim Amor; thomas Belham). the studio version is nice enough, but this Peel session that Joey and John did is totally transcendent.
to my knowledge it's never officially been released. i found a file way back in the Audiogalaxy or Napster days and some kind soul has uploaded it... dig in, it doesn't get much better.

Hey, I remember you back in '72
With your David Bowie hair and your platform shoes
You had a part-time job, selling fast food
But out on the street you was nobody's fool

the artwork on both Lifer and I'm Not the Devil aren't much better. Really good music but damn, that art blows goats I'm thinking he has someone he's known forever, maybe a sad sack cousin or niece/nephew who does shitty art, and he feels like he "owes" said hanger-on so he throws him a bone by using hanger-on artwork (good album name)Iowan wrote:whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:That covers looks like something airbrushed on a tank top that you can get at a flea market (which is of course held at the drive-in theater that used to show porn but hasn’t been used in decades)Iowan wrote:

Listening now. Solid (for those who like Jinks). My prediction of one really good album between the two seems accurate.
Bovine nailed it with “truck stop t shirt”.

The new GBV record inspired me to pull out this prog Pollard solo gem.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
This Rodney Crowell album is so damn awesome, what a damn debut!!!
Still think eponymous Lucinda and Sweet Old World are her best albums! And I'll stand on Car Wheels' coffee table in my Chuck Taylors and say that. Fight me
Junior Brown is a god damn national treasure, a one-of-a-kind musician, and a mean ol' SOB when he wants to be.... too many nights in a roadhouse done this little good boy wrong
