What's Everyone Listening to?

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

I liked it enough and started listening to the other pre-release singles, and was floored by a few of them. These guys are taking a major step up with their next album. Really lush hard rock/country sound, and just stupidly catchy melodies. They have obviously listened to Decoration Day and The Dirty South a lot. Lyrically it's still pretty simple, but the sound is just fantastic.

This one, especially the guitar work, has a very heavy DBT influence

A little more country/heartland rock than the previous one. Catchiest song I've heard in a long time.

This is just big dumb badass straight ahead rock and roll

Album is out on 9/27. I'm on board.
Been a big fan of these guys for a few years now. Me and my buddy Mike went to see them at the 40 Watt a couple years back. Go see them live the first chance you get. I had never seen a band that I thought could touch the Truckers until I saw these guys live. They are absolutely as good as a live band.
No kidding I caught em in April in SF... this is a high energy live band... and by all accounts, they have only ramped up since then (opened for the Stones in Chicago). And the new record is phenomenal
I would like to apologize to anybody that I have not offended. Please be patient, I will get to you.

Huge fan of the band from the very start, and still love them, but this might be my least favorite of their albums. It speaks to the quality of their oeuvre that such an album can be thought of as their worst/least favorite, for there are a metric ton of bands for whom this would be their masterwork. For me they've been steadily trending this way since Wilco (The Album) and this record seems like the logical destination from the track they've been riding.

I think pretty much every album since Wilco has been in this super snoozy vein.

They all have some good songs, but I hardly listen to them a month or two out of release.

Thank God they are still a solid live band.

A few of the new songs "play well" live, "Hold Me Anyway", "Love Is Everywhere", but, I'm tired of the bummer trips.

I really dig "Star Wars", mostly for the fact that it "rocks"... Thought "Whole Love" was solid for the most part.

"Schmilco", "Warm", "Warmer", "OdeTo Joy" (Warmier?) just haven't resonated with me...

That said, will keep seeing them live, as I did a few weeks back, in DC.

Very good album. Very 'slap-dash' in how it's put together but there are a lot of stand-outs scattered throughout. Some, I can definitely imagine the Crowes doing back in the day, ie. Idle Time, California, etc.

Since I know you're a fan and you like the other records, I think it's safe to say you'd dig this one as well

the debut 2x7" and the Vibracobra single have been released as a 12" record... get it, classic stuff. i saw them a bunch of times in the early 90s, maybe even their first Boston show at TTs.

There was a time there in Chapel Hill when the names Superchunk and Polvo were so linked that you would have thought it was a Parliament-Funkadelic kinda thing  'Twas rare to hear one band mentioned without the other in the same sentence
