I've heard Grand Funk Railroad's radio hits for decades now, but I've never owned any of their albums. However, I've recently stumbled upon some of their deeper tracks and I like what I'm hearing.
Here's some hard rockin' power trio classic rock jammage done right, a la live Hendrix or The Who in their Live At Leeds era.

This is the first "grownup" album I ever bought with my own money:whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:“The wild shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher? I just literally laughed out loud at "bong-rattling bass"!whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:“The wild shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher? The competent drumwork of Don Brewer? Oh, man!”
I forgot about that Homer-ism. And, of course, it's on YouTube.
This is just like me in the car with my kids (except I don't know GFR as well as Homer does).
The store with a picture of a guitar in the window at the end of this clip reminded me of "Self Destructive Zones" -- things aren't like they used to be.

God dammit. What a loss.
All it takes is one wicked heart, a pile of money, and a chain of folks just doing their jobs
