Kevin Morby - Oh My God
I keep it all together for the sake of the kids.

Again. The songwriting is top notch (as always), but the arrangements really took a giant leap with this record. Truly one of the most underrated bands of the last 15 yearsZip City wrote:

And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

Started listening to this the other night. Was really impressed by the title track, but didn't get through the whole thing. I'll join.Zip City wrote:Again. Todd Snider's good buddy. Todd was pimping this pretty hard yesterday. His 2016 "Midnight Motel" was in my Top 10 that year.

How’s that Jack Ingram record? I loved his stuff 20 years ago. After DBT I haven’t really been able to step back to the stepping stones of my tastes. But he was right there with Robert Earle, recklesskelly, Ragweed etc. for me. Saw a great performance by him in Stillwater..... shit what’s the name of that place.....not tumbleweeds but the other one. May not be there anymore but where Cody Canada cut his teeth. Cheers Iowan
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I dig it. Really good performances. It's about half (very well known) covers and half originals. I like the originals and the covers are all songs I love.boyyourself wrote:How’s that Jack Ingram record? I loved his stuff 20 years ago. I'm a fan of the feel and lack of ego you see in a lot of those Texas guys. The lesser ones get super generic and are basically glorified bar bands, but the good ones are a lot of damn fun. Bruce Robison's Last Waltz has been a really cool thing, and I think Jack's slot there kind of inspired the vibe of this album.

I had a similar phase as you, boyyourself. It’s hard to go back to some of that stuff but every once in awhile one of those tunes comes on and it takes me back. I agree 100% with your take, Iowan. They have a swagger that sets them apart.
I always liked this album.

Bovine I’m so glad you brought up Unleashed Live. That thing is burned into my soul. Spinning it this morning loud and realizing what a shit hot band Charlie Robison had in those days. My brother named his daughter Charlie.

Same. Played the heck out of 'em over the past few years and then lost touch, but was just thumbin' through the stacks when I ran across that one.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Now there’s a band I haven’t thought of/listened to in ages
