Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Absolutely loving this. A heavy John Hiatt kind of vibe if that's your thing.
This is my favorite album in the last 3-4 years. I saw John Kilzer live two times in January and he seemed to be flying high. The new record appeared to be doing well and he had shows planned with his killer band the Scars. But sometime over the last few months John relapsed after almost twenty years of sobriety. He checked into Hazelden up in Minnesota earlier this month and hung himself two days after he arrived. John was perhaps the most active member of the Memphis recovery community and his suicide has sent shock waves through that world as well as the music scene around here. Tough stuff.

BK, the good doctor, and Cortez have all plugged new Strand of Oaks in the past couple of days.

That's enough to roll with it.

Beware. Little to no whiskey drenching on that record.

The songs that don't grab me individually seem to blend into the background pretty well. "Wasted Youth" is a damn ear worm.

Yup. Reminds me a little of The War on Drugs, but I like it better.
