The Pretender (song) is one of my all-time favs. Absolutely love the lush, exquisite backing vocals. I often put it on repeat for hours

band falls easily under the "3 unreleased songs? sure, i'll buy a new compilation" umbrella for me.

I like the first one more too.Iowan wrote:This. I didn't like this nearly as much as Sidelong on the first few listens, but it's time to give it another look.scotto wrote:

I just realized that the tractor on the cover of Decoration Day is a Farmall 450.

gorillaz - the now now
cautious first listen. i like the project in general but thought last years album was terrible
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
It's way more jazz than Lucinda. I have it on in the background, but I think she only sings on 2, maybe 3 songs.Shakespeare wrote:what is this exactly? i love frisell and appreciate lloyd and williams but at first glance it screams painfully forced collabZip City wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
one ill fitting snoop dogg collab aside, much more satisfying. not sure of the production credits but ive long felt damon albarn is a talented guy who needs a strong collaborator (more than just a mailed in guest vocal). his solo productions just arent as interesting as blur or the gorillaz albums with big name producers like danger mouse and dan the automatorShakespeare wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
lot of really great cross-generation moments on here. songs with/by jarvis cocker, jon spencer, thurston moore especially fun. she was never a rgeat singer and definitely didnt grow into one but she still knew how to make up for it with personality
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
It's actually not bad, so far. I am kinda annoyed that he recorded "Throwback" for a solo record instead of putting it on the next MMJ albumZip City wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
really enjoyed that JJ on first listen. did not expect it to be that lo-fi. its like he hardly even bothered getting great vocal takes throughout, in a good way
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I'll have to listen to this again. Put it on in the background the other day and it didn't land.Shakespeare wrote:id say ive only been a casual nin fan but this is some of the best stuff ive heard from trent. god break down the door and over and out are especially stunningShakespeare wrote:

i find jazzy-ish crooner a pretty interesting look on trent though
