Deer Tick dude's Dan Stuart's vocal doppelganger anyway.Zip City wrote:Just heard a song on the radio by a band called The Glorious Sons, and I would have bet money that their singer was the guy from Deer Tick. He is not....just his vocal doppelgänger

That's awesome - it even sounds like a song that would fit perfectly on a DT record.Smitty wrote:Deer Tick dude's Dan Stuart's vocal doppelganger anyway.Zip City wrote:Just heard a song on the radio by a band called The Glorious Sons, and I would have bet money that their singer was the guy from Deer Tick. Turn it up to 10 and rip off the knob

If you dig Turnpike Troubadours, you'd find a lot to like about this. They're definitely influenced by TT (and have opened for them many times).

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
heres an odd one. steve burns, from blues clues, and steven drozd, from the flaming lips. steven and wayne coyne had done some odds and ends on a solo album steve did many years ago but this is a full length collab, and much more enjoyable even though it is a childrens album, complete with mid-song lessons and an entire song about poop. musically its like the flaming lips continued as a glammy pop band after at war with the mystics. drozd should really make a solo album one of these days

If you ain't familiar with the Danny & Dusty record you're missing out.ramonz wrote:

It's Dan Stuart from Green on Red and Steve Wynn from the Dream Syndicate backed up by members of GoR and the Long Ryders. Killer record that trumps anything Deer Rick's ever done
E quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle.

Really excellent. Great bounce back from her atrocious classic rock covers record from a few years ago.chuckrh wrote:album of the year so far

Trying to wrap my mind around this. SOOOO different from their first record. Do they think they're the Felice Brothers now?Iowan wrote:

I'm not sure if you think this sounds like the Felice Brothers, or you're saying that this is a Celebration, Florida-esque departure from their previous sound.Zip City wrote:Trying to wrap my mind around this. I don't think I agree with either of those takes.
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I think that compared to their debut, this dips into the jangly, Dylan-esque side of things far more often (a sound I associate with the Felice Brothers). I haven't listened to any of their other releases, so I'm comparing this to the debut

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I would agree with that. I think it's pretty different from the Felice Brothers, but it definitely moved that direction, and away from an overtly loud punkish hard rock sound that you heard on The Monitor. My wife immediately recognized it as "that band with the really long songs" when I put it on en route to Easter dinner Saturday.Zip City wrote:I think that compared to their debut, this dips into the jangly, Dylan-esque side of things far more often (a sound I associate with the Felice Brothers).
