Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
My personal selection of songs on my personally created stations on Spotify at work:
Pink Floyd (A healthy dose of "Atom Heart Mother" clears the room at work real quick!)
Thin Lizzy: yes, nothing but Lizzy early afternoon on a Monday.

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worries
You belong somewhere you feel free

We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
This. tried to make it thru a few songs without tears. Didn't make it. It had been on my bucket list to see him live as I had always missed him for one reason or another. He opened this tour in okc so I called up my eldest daughter and we went up.Tequila Cowboy wrote:
She's 36. She started tearing up after a couple songs. I asked her why, she said it was taking her back to when she was a toddler. She said it had been years since she had listened to TP but his tunes are a soundtrack to her life. She just didn't realize it til we were sitting at that show together that night.
Thanks Tom. This family will miss you.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Objectively, I understand that TP grew, changed and evolved as an artist, developing an admirable personal style out of his early influences and becoming the kind of creative artist that others emulated. I know that his early albums reflect those early influences too literally and directly to be "art." I know that hardly anyone would rank his first 2 albums among his best. I get all that. But it doesn't matter. To me Tom Petty will always be those first two albums before he is anything else. And "Listen To Her Heart" is not only the best Byrds song ever it's also the best Tom Petty song ever.dime in the gutter wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
It's ridiculously hard to choose a Tom Petty album today, just too many to pick from. Listened to the Wilburys earlier, might as well go with this one for now.dime in the gutter wrote:

I love that thought. They are such an incredible band. In many ways having seen this last tour it felt like a victory lap with Petty announcing their departure from hard touring, but they were so tight and it was the best show that I had seen them play since I began seeing them in '95.RolanK wrote:Been listening to this today myself.Tequila Cowboy wrote:

I am going to get shit thrown at me for saying this. I know that it is way too early to make this comment, but fuck it, I'll say it. I think Ryan Adams would be a really good pairing.
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
This soundtrack is amazing from front to back. A very interpersonal coming-of-age album for that time in my life. For that reason, it is one of my favorites from his catalog. His cover of Lucinda's "Changed The Locks" is an absolute scorcher.

"Walls" is absolutely a Top 5 Petty song for me. It was the first one I went to yesterday.Cubfan06 wrote:
