Saw him at the mercury lounge. Probably 2 years ago. Opened for McMurtry (or maybe Strand of Oaks-can't remember). He killed it liveTequila Cowboy wrote:

Dedringers-Sweetheart Of The Neighborhood
Above mentioned Jonny Burke fronted this band when I saw them open for McMurtry back in '09 in Cains small room (now Smokin Joes BBQ)
Pretty good record. Really good live.

And he's done some writing with Evan felker from the Turnpike Troubadours and I believe some of the tunes have ended up on each of their albums.Clams wrote:Yep I saw him open for McMurtry several years ago too. Speaking of Turnpike, saw them Friday night and Felker announced they've been in the studio and a new album is coming. They played a new song and it was definitely one of the most straight forward rock tunes they've done. It'll be interesting to see where they go with this. I keep bracing for them to take a stab at overt commercial success, but I just can't see them ever being embraced by that establishment. Plus, they weren't rapping, so that's a DQ right there.

Imo this suffers a bit from the production. Some of the songs were recorded again as Peel Session and released on Hatfull of Hollow. I tend to prefer those. If I am not mistaken the album was actually recorded twice. The other version never released. I could be mixing things up with another album though.cortez the killer wrote:

Used to be on heavy rotation some 20+ years ago. Also had the pleasure of seeing them live when they were touring behind this. Steve Wynn has allways been frequent touring Norway with all his projects.cortez the killer wrote:

First listen. I am really liking it so far. Sounds like Micah has been listening to Todd Snider.

Consider your cosmic country rock needs met for the summer. Trummors’ Headlands is a gorgeous sonic road trip through the beauty, sadness and mystery of the American west (or what’s left of it), packed with sunburnt pedal steel, close harmonies and sneakily sophisticated songwriting. Think New Riders of the Purple Sage, American Beauty-era Dead, Neil’s Harvest and the early 70s work of Iain Matthews (whose “Hearts” is given an absolutely perfect rendering here).

I'm not a big enough Smiths fan to have any kind of an informed opinion. I am actively trying to change that.RolanK wrote:Imo this suffers a bit from the production. Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Saw him open for Ryan Bingham in a TINY bar in Norfolk when The Jefferson didn't open in time in C'ville. Really good. Got a CD of early stuff that I need to track down, but there were a few standout tracks on it, one that memorably mentions cocaine. Knew he'd make it on some level.
