Was disappointed that after spending over a week in So Cal last week there were no Chris/Herb shows anywhere near us
I think Chris Hillman is one of the most tragically underrated figures in American music post-mid 60s. He's had a strong hand in so much amazing, groundbreaking music, yet more often than not receives criminally less credit than he and his effort earned. I'll go my grave championing Chris Hillman's genius

WWCD, we are shoulder to shoulder about Hillman. Dwight Yoakam is with us too.
Keep an eye out late summer and fall....Hillman, Pedersen and John Jorgenson are playing a number of shows. It's not the desert Rose Band, but it's as close as we are going to get.
They are playing the City Winery in Nashville on October 1 and my calendar has been made clear that entire weekend.
And if things had been let up to Tom's dad, Tom would have been a racer. I love racing, but I like Tom just the way he is.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Two weeks my wife and I were at Joshua Tree for a few days. On top of doing the hell out of an epic national park, we totally geeked out on all the GP stuff: went to Cap Rock multiple times, stayed at the Joshua Tree Inn (almost but not quite in Room 8), all the requisite stuff a huge Gram fan would do at JP. That said, I kept having the feeling that I need to also in some way--go to shows, "represent," whatever--geek out on Chris. It's not his fault that he lived instead of becoming an immortal. Let me be clear, I am not dissing Gram in any way, just saying that people need to not forget Chrisjr29 wrote:WWCD, we are shoulder to shoulder about Hillman. Dwight Yoakam is with us too.

I totally get it. I made a little comment last week about Dickey Betts still being around.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Two weeks my wife and I were at Joshua Tree for a few days. I saw Chris and Herb at a fundraiser here in Memphis last summer and I am so glad that I did. I don't really keep track of ticket stubs anymore but that one is beside my bed and has been since the day of the show.

The original lineup is playing 2 nights in Asbury Park just before July 4. I've got to work both days following the shows but am going to try hard to make 1 of them. That's a top 10 all time record for mecortez the killer wrote:Well she held a bass guitar and she was playing in a bandbeantownbubba wrote:Next thing we know, Rev Matt will make an appearance here.cortez the killer wrote:

Again. Nigel Godrich's fingerprints are all over this thing. If you lift the vocals off the title track you would swear it was a Radiohead song.Zip City wrote:

The Magpie Salute. Excellent! For me much better than Chris Robinson Band. Think I need to go see this band!

I had never heard of this guy before but he's opening for McMurtry tonight here in town and I wanted to check him out. He's quite good actually.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved
