I'm currently reading a book about the underground dance scene in New York in the 70's. The main character is David Mancuso, who also died in 2016, so I'm listening to a mix of the music he used to play, warning may contain disco

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
The Belmonts - Cigars, Acapella, Candy
I know I've bored everyone to tears singing the praises of the Belmonts album, so I'll spare you, but I do want to point out that "Rock n Roll Lullabye" is practically perfect in every way. Just because not all singing from the soul is not called soul music doesn't make it any less soulful. NB: Disregard the pic which has nothing to do w/ either the album or the band (which is only the Belmonts, no Dion).

Quickly climbing my best of 2016 charts. Really the best of both worlds here between these collaborators, the result of which is some fantastically strange but fascinating psychedelia

one of the best of the 90s. petrr svenssons cowritten some pretty great mainstream pop songs since the cardigans.
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I'm reading Robbie's memoir and his recollection of the recording of this record made me want to pull it off the shelf. Bob was writing some of it as they were recording, almost everyone was a little too fucked up or had been too fucked up recently, everyone had just moved from New York to California, hadn't played with Bob in years, management issues, personality issues...etc etc etc.sactochris wrote:jr29 wrote:Dylan- Planet Waves

And they cobbled together what is, in my opinion, a great, great album.
Also...Son Volt did a great cover of Going, Going, Gone. I'm convinced that jay Farrar is that master of covers, I'm not sure anyone compares.
