I hadn't heard this in decades til today Saw them live touring this record in the early 70s. Maybe 73?Kudzu Guillotine wrote:I love that album, especially this tune.4sooner wrote:Savoy Brown-Hellbound Train
They opened for Uriah Heep in okc. Good times.
I always was partial to the title track. Probably my favorite SB track.

I love the title track as well. In fact, I adore the entire record. It's one of those albums I never would have heard if not for an older sibling. I'm not sure that I've ever heard any Savoy Brown on the radio aside from maybe Deep Tracks on SiriusXM.4sooner wrote:I hadn't heard this in decades til today Saw them live touring this record in the early 70s. Been playing this all morning. Shit kicking country. For fans of Sturgill Simpson, Turnpike Troubadours, Hayes Carll, Ray Wylie Hubbard, et al.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I saw Evan Felker from Turnpike Troubadours raving about them, so I can't take all the credit. Believed they were Turnpike's opener this summer/fall too.Gaetzi wrote:Been checking out Mike and the Moonpies on youtube all afternoon after seeing Iowan's post.. Great stuff!

Bill's on an Altan kick! Hadn't thought/heard much of them since I was the international buyer at Tower in Austin for a year or so, a long time ago....Bill in CT wrote:

Ray Davies had to write "Waterloo Sunset" in order to earn the slack he used up on this atrocious album cover.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Yes I am! I'm listening to this one again (their 2015 release) and am loving it. I plan to see them when they start their U.S. tour in my area in February 2016. I've only seen them once and they were amazing. That was at the 1997 Guinness Fleadh on Randall's Island in NYC. I went both days. The impressive lineup can be seen at the link below.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Bill's on an Altan kick!
