Funny, I can totally hear Taylor Swift covering a bunch of these
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I tried a couple of times to get through the whole damn thing via the Soundcloud link but never quite managed. Partly because life got in the way all the time, and I guess partly because the tracks weren't linked together. Well, ever since the "official" release via the ATO distribution mail on friday I have been listening to only this. Agree with everyone's comments about this being the definitive collection and best possible document of the DBT rock show experience. As well as the added level of transparency as to what is going on between the guitars, especially on Jay's side. Difficult to single out favorite tracks this early in the process. Let's get back to that.211poundsofpork wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Someone mentioned it above - this album has rekindled my love for this band.
It reaffirms for me that they are the greatest Rock n Roll band going today.
What a record.

Wilco - Star Wars
on a rather fetching red vinyl. Sounds fantastic.

Going to see them in December in a shitty little bar in a tiny town here, no idea why they're playing that venue but I'll be there. The album is excellent.Clams wrote:

Roxy and Dukes. Maybe I'll see you there. It's not as weird as when Drivin n Cryin played down the road at Kerwins last summer.njMark wrote:Going to see them in December in a shitty little bar in a tiny town here, no idea why they're playing that venue but I'll be there. Goddamn.
TBH while I was excited about this release, I wasn't that excited, with so many bootlegs available (not to mention AAW and ACL). DBT are one of if not my favorite live band, but I just never thought they translated as well on recordings as they do in person... but holy shit was I wrong.
I think "Box of Spiders" and "Goode's Field Road" are worth the price of admission alone.

Israel Nash's Silver Season
This has been a grower. On first listen nothing really stood out -- wife won't even let me listen to it at home because "it sounds like one really long song" -- but it's a pleasant listen. FWIW, Rain Plans took a while to grow on me, too.
This, on the other hand, clicked immediately. Probably my favorite album of his since The Animal Years.

Josh Ritter is one of those folks I've been aware of for years but I've never really taken the time to investigate his music. I heard this the other night on a friends radio show, which I really enjoyed. Tune sort of reminds me of Steve Forbert. I saw his new record for sale over the weekend, I may have to go back and snag a copy.Duke Silver wrote:

The new record is a great place to start. And I recommend The Animal Years to anybody who will listen. His other albums are hit and miss but there's at least 3-4 GREAT songs on all of them.Kudzu Guillotine wrote:Josh Ritter is one of those folks I've been aware of for years but I've never really taken the time to investigate his music.
