That one absolutely deserves to be on my hybrid album, TC. I'm somewhat proud to say I was able to come up with that list without looking at either track listings, I knew I'd omit a few classics.

Merci beaucoup. I'll be checking that one out.3milelake wrote:My brother recommended to me and my other brothers....this was his email & I agree with his assessment regarding the band on a couple of listens....beantownbubba wrote:Qu'est-ce que c'est?3milelake wrote:
"I don’t think I pimp new music that often. At any rate if you guys passed it up or didn’t notice this release a couple of weeks back by a NYC band called “The London Souls” I highly recommend it.
I liked half of it on the first listen through and by the second run through I was lovin’ it all.
I think I’ve listened to it all the way through 7 or 8 times (painting, running & driving)
The little review on Exy likens it in parts to The Hollies and Big Star which is lofty enough. For me on repeated listens I’m also hearing The Beatles, Badfinger, Lenny Kravitz, Black Keys.
There’s lots of different styles from rock through stuff done on ukulele that sounds like a throwback to Queen doing “Seaside Rendezvous”
Git It"

includes his original versions of Monkey and the Engineer and Beat it on Down the Line among others. Love them old school "one-man band" performers

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I can get that, personally I got more Lenny Kravitz out of that (although at his best he worshipped on 70's rock)....these boys aren't reinventing the wheel much, but their leanings/odes to a lot of classic rock is pleasing to my earsBarely_Oakely wrote:^^^ When I listened to Steady, all I heard was Stranglehold by the Nuge.

Brandi Carlisle - The Firewatcher's Daughter. First listen to a gift. Enjoying it. The better parts of it lean towards Jenny Lewis a bit, the worst parts are those musical arrangements that are a bit too Mumford & Sons-y for me.

Interesting but I couldn't live without Fingerprint File or Hot Stuff. Yes I love Hot Stuff, sue me. (And Time Waits for No One as TC already said)Gaetzi wrote:And on the Stones tip- That Black and Blue cover always make me laugh- It looks like Keith is breathing hot, boozy, smoky breath into Mick's ear.
While both IORR and Black and Blue are good to very good Stones albums, could you imagine the album it would have been if they took the best off both?

like butter. He was awesome. For those who have The Live Adventures of Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield AND Fillmore East- The Lost Tapes (botching up the title big time here) I think it is still worth it. Great jams abound. Highly recommended - and I didn't even get to the DVD yet!Duke Silver wrote:That's been on my "to buy" list for months now but I haven't pulled the trigger. How is it?211poundsofpork wrote:

Tobias Jesso Jr, Goon
really digging this, reminds me a lot of another fave, Todd Rundgren, crossed with early solo era McCartney (especially the arrangements) and a little bit of Nilsson. Definitely a throwback in the best way!
plus the dude is apparently 6'7"!
