Haven't listened to the whole thing yet but based on the first half I'm with zip. I'm digging the rnb feel, and the production is fantastic. Very pleasantly surprised.Zip City wrote:This album is fucking incredible. I kinda dig it...Seems like I am in the minority here, however.
Seriously, this new record has completely clobbered me. It's next level. It's like they tossed out all their soul records and listened to nothing but TV on the Radio, The Roots, My Morning Jacket and St. Vincent or something.
Holy shit, guys

I dunno what's up with me, maybe working on my new herb garden, but something's got me back into the Dead and the more new-ageish MMJ material.
E quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle.

This seems to be a love it-or-hate it record. I'm firmly in the "love it" camp.
So far it's neck & neck with Complicated Game in the AOTY running.

Giving this one some quality time on the headphones while doing yard work and it's finally starting to click. Brilliant.LBRod wrote:Spent a lot of time with these on my drive to socal and back.

Gave this my first listens on Thursday. LOVED it. Last record that registered so strongly on first listen was DD way back when.

i was only familiar with love it to death (and the obvious singles) till i bought this cheap set of the first five albums last year, but theyve all been in heavy rotation since then. so many great songs in there. i feel like that band should be way more appreciated among punk and metalheads nowadays. i first got into love it to death around the same time as the stooges, ny dolls, etc, so ill always lump them in with that stuff but it seems like aside from some melvins covers, the alice cooper band hasnt quite gotten their fair dues from the scenes they heavily influenced.
it was really cool to hear the earlier stuff. pretties for you was an especially neat surprise. i had no idea they started out as some sort of twisted psych pop band. then easy action starts to add the sleazy dramatic undertones to some beatles melodies and the rest was history.

Complicated Game looked hard to top but I think this one has. Moreland is a giant talent.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Nope. I'm a longtime Moreland fan, but he's still got a ways to go.Tequila Cowboy wrote:Complicated Game looked hard to top but I think this one has. Moreland is a giant talent.
