I know that history will view these guys only slightly more kindly than the likes of the Spin Doctors and Seven Mary Three, but I'll stand up for them. They crafted some damn good radio friendly pop/rock.
ain't no static on the gospel radio

The Faces/Early Rod Stewart on shuffle.
Truly among the absolute top of the top shelf of rock and roll's canon.

Keeping with the early Stewart. Tip of the hat to 3mile on this one. This is an album I've been aware of for years, but had yet to go out of my way for.

I think Seven Mary Three were the most talented of that bunch.Duke Silver wrote:

Hell, I'd rank Spin Doctors above Collective Soul. At least they were fun.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Fun? Yes. I love "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" as well as several other tracks off of Pocketful of Kryptonite (just not "Two Princes", I heard that one one too many times). Good live band? Not the show I saw them do during their heyday back in the early 90's. It was a sloppy, meandering mess and not in a good way. Thoughts on Live and Blues Traveler? I believe some combination of most (if not all) of the bands mentioned thus far did a 90's nostalgia tour a few years back.Iowan wrote:Agreed.Smitty wrote:I think Seven Mary Three were the most talented of that bunch.Duke Silver wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I can enjoy me both some Blues Traveler and Live. Keep in mind that Smitty and I were just kids in the 90's. This is the music I heard on the school bus, and sort of assume the same for him. Lots of nostalgia surrounding all the bands listed, except that Collective Soul was always a band I was ready to get to the end of the song and onto "Loser" or "Self Esteem".Kudzu Guillotine wrote:Fun? I remember a discussion on here a few years back where I was sticking up for the Spin Doctors, and someone linked a live clip that was just fucking terrible.

Really? I don't know them at all besides "Cumbersome," which I got mocked relentlessly for liking back in the day.Smitty wrote:I think Seven Mary Three were the most talented of that bunch.Duke Silver wrote:

I saw her (albeit only 3 songs) at Prairie Home Companion last month and was really impressed by her live performance.Clams wrote:Brand new. I'm hearing a strong Jenny Lewis vibe.Zip City wrote:
