Hell yeah!! I remember listening to that one on the radio and it's been one of my more treasured boots for a long, long time. That's the Bruce that made him "The Boss".

But I'm still pissed that I couldn't get near a ticket for that show.

Thoughts? After one listen, I found it largely to be as sleepy and hypnotic as I imagined which I don't necessarily see as bad things. I'm sure those that long for a Zeppelin reunion will have some harsh words for this record but in all likelihood those folks haven't been following Plant's late career trajectory, which I think of as beginning with Dreamland in 2002. There are a few moments where the Sensational Space Shifters seem on the verge of dropping the hammer of the Gods but remain restrained. Overall, it may be Plant's most introspective, contemplative album yet. He's also said it's going to be his last but I seriously doubt it. Though he's mentioned it before, Plant is saying again that he'd like to work with Jack White. While I may be off, I'm guessing that would be a rock n' roll record.

Sleepy, hypnotic, atmospheric are certainly words that would accurately describe it. Eclectic, too. He has certainly absorbed and incorporated a broad range of styles and influences into this record. It's a far cry from his work with Led Zeppelin, but I can see myself going back to it. It has the makings of a good autumn, time-to-decompress album.

Saw them around this time with Def Leppard and the Johnny Van Zant at Minges Coliseum at ECU in Greenville, NC. Medlocke had no idea what town he was in and had a "Hello Cleveland" moment. I've never been the biggest Def Leppard fan but it was pretty cool to see them so early on in their career. I believe they were touring behind High n' Dry at the time. This concert is one of a couple from that era that "Let There Be Rock" immediately brings to mind (with the other one being Cheap Trick - Nantucket - AC/DC [with Bon Scott] in Fayetteville).
