I like what I've heard from Blitzen Trapper but admittedly, I probably never would have purchased it had it not been on sale for $5. That was five bucks very well spent, I love it.

original outlaw vinyl
'And on a package show in Buffalo
With us and Kitty Wells and Charlie Pride.
The show was long and we was just sittin' there
And we'd come to play and not just for the ride.
And we drank a lot of whiskey,
So I don't know if we went on that night at all.
But I don't think they even missed us
I guess Buffalo ain't geared for me and Paul.'

One of the many things i love about this place: I would have bet serious dough that we'd never see a mention of Firefall here. And now here I am, like dime, wondering if i'm actually gonna have to listen to it. What a place!

NP:
George A. was at the movies in December '41
They announced it in the lobby what had just gone on
He drove up from Birmingham back to the family's farm
Thought he'd get him a deferment there's was much work to be done
He was a family man, even in those days
But Uncle Sam decided he was needed anyway
In the South Pacific over half a world away
He believed in God and Country, things was just that way
Just that way.....
When I was just a kid I spent every weekend
On the farm that he grew up on so I guess so did I
And we'd stay up watching movies on the black and white TV
We watched "The Sands of Iwo Jima" starring John Wayne
Every year in June George A. goes to a reunion
Of the men that he served with and their wives and kids and grandkids
My Great Uncle used to take me and I'd watch them recollect
about some things I couldn't comprehend
And I thought about that movie, asked if it was that way
He just shook his head and smiled at me in such a loving way
As he thought about some friends he will never see again
He said "I never saw John Wayne on the sands of Iwo Jima"
Most of those men are gone now but he goes still every year
And George A's still doing fine, especially for his years
He's still living on that homestead in the house that he was born in
And I sure wish I could go see him today
He never drove a new car though he could easily afford it
He'd just buy one for the family and take whatever no one wanted
He said a shiny car didn't mean much after all the things he'd seen
George A. never saw John Wayne on the sands of Iwo Jima
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Holy shit! I just may be in love: First listen to Wild Flag's s/t debut and it's freakin' ALSUM!! If the rest of the album holds up, this could well be the album of the year.
Rob Sheffield loses a fraction of a point for calling these gals a "supergroup" but damn he does know what he's talking about (4 star rave in Rolling Stone). Check. It. Out. NOW!
And earlier today listened to that other so-called supergroup, Superheavy, for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised. Not running out to buy it, but enjoyed it much more than i expected to. Worth hearing.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I like what I've heard by Wild Flag, which admittedly isn't much. I got turned onto them in a roundabout way, by picking up their single on Record Store Day for a friend. They played the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC on Friday. I would have loved to have attended but there's just no way I can afford to keep going to every concert I want to see that comes through this area.

let's see - Firefall’s original release (allmusic.com – 4.5 stars from 5)
Rick Roberts – Flying Burrito Brothers
Jock Bartley – Gram Parsons’ Fallen Angels
Make Andes – Spirit
Michael Clarke – Byrds & Flying Burrito Brothers
Formed by Chris Hillman (Byrds & Flying Burrito Brothers) upon Gram Parsons death
maybe you should listen to it
make it breathe make it sweat

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Never cared for Firefall or the Little River Band. In fact, most of the time I could never tell the difference between the two. However, I did see Mark Andes a few years ago in the Bump Band with Ian McLagan.
