Re: Wilco.
I had a promo copy of Uncle Tupelo's Anodyne that I never paid much attention to but when I first heard "Drown" by Son Volt, I sat up and took notice. I had seen Wilco on 120 Minutes and in concert on the Newport Folk Festival tour in the late 90's but all I had by them was a cassingle of "Casino Queen" I'd picked up at HORDE Fest (also in the late 90's). Being There was my proper introduction thanks to a friend on the Guitartown email list.

By the time you drop them I'll be gone
And you'll be right where they fall the rest of your life

So Yankee Hotel Foxtrot has been my favorite Wilco record for a long time, but I think A Ghost Is Born just kicked it out for the top spot. Can't get enough of this album

Re: Wilco.
I'm not sure I can think of anything better than the first nine songs of "A Ghost is Born." Maybe side one of "Moondance."
Re: Wilco.
YHF and AGIB got a lot of play this week in NYC and I was not complaining.
Knowing Jeff played all of the electric guitar on AGIB makes those songs stand out live for me. He is a grossly under-rated guitar player.

Re: Wilco.
Although I understand the reasoning behind it, the static in "Less Than You Think" keeps AGIB from being perfect to my ears. Of course it's only an aesthetic issue, but it fucks up the flow and makes me reach for the skip button every time. I have a version that was recorded in-studio during a radio session (probably KEXP) that someone on here sent me that rectifies the issue, though. Still sucks if you're listening to the vinyl.
I think one of the greatest trifectas in r'n'r history is YHF>AGiB>SBS, or if so inclined ST>YHF>AGiB is nearly as good to these ears. I know TC (and a few others) prefer BT>ST>YHF, but anything that implies AGiB is inferior to any of those is just a wrong opinion.

Geddy Lee visits Wilco's studio, talks with Tweedy. Bass players unite!
One wonders if he is checking out studios to record a new album, since it looks like Rush is done. Hope so.

Imagine the days of a multiple-night run at The Fillmore are in the rear view mirror. Surprised and grateful that they kept coming there as much as they didchuckrh wrote:spring tour:

Tracing Wilco’s Live Evolution Through Their Best Bootlegs
I am inclined to say that the omission of the 5/10/97 soundboard of a legendary Fillmore show invalidates the whole shebang, but still think some will find this of interest. Do with this what you will
