Garcia crushed all the Chuck Berry material. On 12/31/78 Closing of Winterland Johnny B Goode Garcia looks like the Devil. Literally a man possessed 5 hours into the show!

...Alas, there are a lot of eye-catchers from that show: did Jerry's beard have pieces of confetti still in it from the New Year's countdown?, Bobby's eye-glasses, Donna's ornate bathrobe, lack of Keith shots once again, the flying joint from the countdown...

This had to be one heck of a show to see. Way to go Mr. Graham!

26th anniversary of my wife's first show, and what a tremendous show it was. Easter Sunday and then the next day was April Fool's Day, in which she got a Dark Star at her 2nd show (took me over 100 shows to bag my first Dark Star). It seemed obvious that Jerry was about to start Dark Star on the 31st but for whatever reason Weir shut it down :( The Eyes from the 31st is truly spectacular!

here are the entire shows for both nights, should anyone want to invest the time, it's well worth it

this run was Sunday and Monday, with Monday being the NCAA championship game. It presented the only (so far) chance for UNC to play dook for the title, but alas UNC lost in the semi-finals. Had it worked out that the Heels had played dook on that Monday, I would have been a wreck at the Dead show

April Fool's Promised Land: Bobby on keyboards, Brent & Jerry on drums, Billy on bass, Mickey on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Phil on lead guitar

I was there.....lost my marbles the first night, came back for more the second night :)...I had heard Kesey & Co were there too. Black Peter was emotional the second night for me

Dave's Picks Volume 22

this release probably buries my longtime wish for an official release of December 5, 1971- an epic, epic show, FM recordings have circulated forever- but nonetheless this should be sweet!!!

I caught Bob Weir in Austin this weekend. Great show. In fact, the mayor gave him the key to the city. Sadly, I never caught the Dead live (I know...), but enjoyed Bobby's show. Super mellow and he is playing with a number of musicians from The National. Some spectacular players. Eyes of the World and Loose Lucy were some standout Dead covers.
Love each other, Motherfuckers!

Waited on line outside the Felt Forum box office at 5:30 in the morning. Eventually married the girl who was on line in front of me

Glad yall vouch for this one! I've been grumbling about yet another 70s-centric year of Dave's Picks releases, but I'm unfamiliar with this show (71 is typically not one of my "years") and it sounds like one I may enjoy..

Anyone else plunk down for this? http://www.dead.net/store/1970s/may-197 ... d=39928196

Only show in here that isn't essential is New Haven (and that ones pretty good)

Yeah, I bought the full box set. Not the "all music edition". I went all out and got the big one.

They just emailed out the un-boxing video. It looks pretty sweet and I cannot wait to get mine.
