Though I'm a Joni fan I have also never heard Blue (though I'm sure I've heard portions of it). As a matter of fact, it's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to similar classic albums that I haven't heard. Oh, and this interview is fucking hilarious.
I remember reading somewhere that Blammo likes Joni Mitchell and Lydia Loveless was kinda making fun of him for it. So I was thinking this would be an amusing read.
This made ma laugh. "I had no idea James Taylor was on heroin. He seems more of an "I Bake Bread" or "I'm really into essential oils" kind of guy.
By the time you drop them I'll be gone
And you'll be right where they fall the rest of your life
Was really glad to finally see Lydia & co in Charlottesville last weekend. The show was solid even if attendance wasn't great.
Apologies to the band on behalf of all of us in this town for the tall guy toward the front who took somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,000 iphone photos that seemed to mostly be close ups of Lydia.
A longtime fan of the Drive-By Truckers, Loveless hit the road with Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley and company earlier this year, crisscrossing the country at the same time that the 2016 presidential contest was heading toward its controversial peak. Proudly political, the Truckers encountered some backlash during the trek from their most conservative fans, some of whom boycotted the shows due to the band's support of the "Black Lives Matter" movement. For Loveless, the experience was a master class in fighting the good fight and staying true to your principles.
"I really admire their career," she says of the Truckers, whose friendship with Loveless was kickstarted by a Twitter exchange between the singer and Hood. "They don't compromise. They're just amazing and they're still making great music. It hasn't dulled for me."
When Shiflett asks Loveless to share a life lesson gleaned from Truckers, though, the songwriter laughs, offering up the following nugget of baked wisdom: "Smoke tons of weed."

Thanks! It was a blast. Gonna spend the next month or so focusing on art, so if anyone wants to commission something from me, hit me up! Pets, portraits, a favorite car, whatever. Here's my instagram page for somewhat of a portfolio. And thanks!
Lydia Loveless stopped by the JBTV Studio in Chicago after her show at the Metro for a special live performance. The entire show will be airing Weds, Nov 30 at 11:30pm on WJYS (check your cable or dish provider for channel locations) and again on Saturday, Dec 3 and Sun, Dec 4 at 1:00am.
Planning on Seeing Lydia Loveless in El Paso on Tuesday night at a place called the Perch. My 9 year old daughter and I are leaving today after school for our 7th annual climbing trip to Hueco Tanks State Park (best stone in the world) just outside of El Paso. Tough to find much info on the venue but it appears to be an all ages show so I'm stoked to bring my daughter as she is also a huge fan. rock and roll and rock climbing!
