What's your favorite song right NOW?

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Capt. Badass
departure and worry
still shakes me
resistance failed(x2)
and friendship failed(x2)
as lovers we did not fail(x2)
brown eyes your pulse is getting hotter
brown eyes your pulse is getting quicker
quote Captain Badass,
"I am setting you heart on fire
so when you leave me
i will burn on in your soul".
you won’t have to think twice
if it’s love you will know
we get no second chance in this life(x2)
so a hot pulse is alright
so a quick pulse is alright
so a hot kiss is alright
so a long kiss is alright
so a long night is alright
and all night is alright
there ain’t no contest
against the final day
we’ll rise above us either way
we’re either greeted
by life or its reverse
then each day greeted
by fortune or its reverse
will you stand up for your one chance
will you stand up for love
we get no second chance in this life(x2)
you won’t have to think twice if its love
you will know

Now that's a nice call right there.

Today?

"Hurricane J" The Hold Steady. At loud volumes.

Also, "Nebakenezer" The Black Crowes. Came on while my Ipod was shuffling, and I got caught rocking out in the library at school.

Hadn't heard this is quite a while and feels like an old friend come to visit. Outstanding.

To Be Someone (Didn't We Have a Nice Time): The Jam

To be someone must be a wonderful thing
A famous footballer a rock singer
or a big film star, yes I think I would like that
To be rich and have lots of fans
have lots of girls to prove that I'm a man
And be No. 1 - and liked by everyone

Getting drugged up with my trendy friends
They really dig me, man, and I dig them
And the bread I spend - is like my fame - it's quickly diminished

And there's no more swimming in a guitar shaped pool
no more reporters at my beck and call
no more cocaine it's only ground chalk
no more taxis now we'll have to walk

But didn't we have a nice time -
didn't we have a nice time
Oh wasn't it such a fine time

I realize I should have stuck to my guns
instead shit out to be one of the bastard sons
and lose myself - I know it was wrong - but it's cost me a lot

And there's no more drinking when the club shuts down,
I'm out on my arse with the rest of the clowns
It's really frightening without a bodyguard
so I stay confined to my lonely room
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

I've really been digging on A More Perfect Union by Titus Andronicus. Make Gaslight Anthem and Hold Steady have a baby and then make the baby listen to hardcore punk music for a while and you have Titus Andronicus.

Well, it's certainly NOT the Muzak version of "Fool On the Hill" I was just forced to listen to while on hold with an insurance company.

LOL, i can recommend a nice Italian super tuscan along w/ a healthy dose of the one and only Sinatra: At the Italian restaurant in the old Italian section of the city (North End) that we were at last nite, they had Frank going strong and it was absolutely perfect. No sooner had I made a comment to that effect to my lovely bride than the music shifts. We sit thru it through 1 song, start getting queasy at the 2d song and absolutely have to ask them to put frank back on by the 3d song, which they do. Who was that other guy, we ask... Michael Bolton. BA DA BING! (Hey, it's kinda like a punchline isn't it?) Coincidentally, the 2d song was a Beatles "cover", maybe Cant Buy Me Love? Can't/don't want to remember.

'59 Sound Gaslight Anthem, Loud and on repeat for now.
Reluctantly, our hero rises to the day, with a moan and a curse to an absent God.

Achin' To Be- The Replacements

Well she's kind of like an artist
Sittin' on the floor
Never finishes, she abandons
Never shows a soul

And she's kind of like a movie
Everyone rushes to see
And no one understands it
Sittin' in their seats

She opens her mouth to speak and
What comes out's a mystery
Thought about, not understood
She's achin' to be

Well she dances alone in nightclubs
Every other day of the week
People look right through her
Baby doll, check your cheek

And she's kind of like a poet
Who finds it hard to speak
Poems come so slowly
Like the colors down a sheet

She opens her mouth to speak and
What comes out's a mystery
Thought about, not understood
She's achin' to be

I've been achin' for a while now, friend
I've been achin' hard for years

Well she's kind of like an artist
Who uses paints no more
You never show me what you're doing
Never show a soul

Well, I saw one of your pictures
There was nothin' that I could see
If no one's on your canvas
Well, I'm achin' to be

She closes her mouth to speak and
Closes her eyes to see
Thought about an' only loved
She's achin' to be
Just like me

Fan-flippin-tastic! Looooove that song!

Right now I'm into "The Coast" by Court Yard Hounds.

I'm gonna head down to the coast
Where nothin' ever seems to matter
You know I love it there the most
When every piece of my world gets scattered

Blue skies, green water
White birds in the air
Brown skin, blue collar
And the wind blowin' in my hair

And I wrote you this little note
And I never even sent the letter
But I still want you to know
I found a place I feel a whole lot better with...

Blue skies, green water
White birds in the air
Brown skin, blue collar
And the wind blowin' in my hair

Blue skies, green water
White birds in the air
Brown skin, blue collar
And the wind blowin' in my hair

I'm gonna leave my old winter coat
And I won't even need a sweater
I'm gonna sit out on a boat
'Cause it's time for some sunny weather and...

Blue skies, green water
White birds in the air
Brown skin, blue collar
And the wind blowin' in my hair
In my hair...

Blue sky, green water
White birds in the air
Brown skin, blue collar
And the wind blowin' in my hair
Can you hear that singing? Sounds like gold...

James McMurtry - Rachel's Song

Must be a cold front coming
Cause I saw the eastbound C&O
And the coal cars were dusted with a half inch of snow
And that boy'll drive me crazy
Don't know what I'll do with him
School will be out tomorrow if that cold front moves in
Calling out
To the dying daylight
The shadows of the mountains
Bringing on the night

The old folks like to whisper
He favors your side in his face
When he gets a little older
He's going to lead a merry chase

(chorus)
When I'm all alone it's all right
It Isn't going to wound my pride
If anyone can claim they're all right
So can I

I wrecked the El Camino
Would have been DWI
So I just walked off and left it
Laying on its side
The troopers found it in the morning
And they said it's purely luck I wasn't killed
I probably ought to quit my drinking
But I don't believe I will

(chorus)

He used to ask about you
About a million times a day
I got so tired of trying to answer
I just turned my head away
Now he don't pay me much attention
He's not asking anymore
I guess he'd probably know you
If you walked back in the door

Calling out to the empty night
Watching as the snowflakes
Come dancing round the light
Dancing up against the window
It's like they're peeking through the glass
And they hover for a moment
And then they fall on past
Calling out

One of the few songs I listen to that my wife actually likes
SHe doesn't care for much DBT (except for Uncle Disney and Jason's Down in a Hole &TVA though) and Todd Snider's Moondawg comp cuz its so funny, but Achin' To Be & Can't Hardly Wait
and she loves all Tom T. Hall, so thats a plus
otherwise it's mainstream country, 80's hair bands, and some old school country (Golden Ring is probably her favorite song)
