God I can't remember which song it was, but the other night I realized a DBT song completely aped the melody from a John Prime song (maybe "Hello in There"?)
I may or may not have been high when I came to this realization.

The opening melody to Dead Man Winters' "This House is on Fire" sounds like "The Devil is Real" by Felice Brothers
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever
Re: musical brain dump....or things i think i hear
Listen to Skynyrd's "The Needle and the Spoon" and then listen to "Submission" by the Sex Pistols. Huh.

Dan Auerbach is channeling some Eddie Rabbit in his new tune Livin' In Sin.

Eddie Rabbit is a giant step-up in my opinion than the last 3 or so Black Keys albums. Sign me up! (Are you sure "Livin' in Sin" isn't a Jon Bovi cover? )bovine knievel wrote:Dan Auerbach is channeling some Eddie Rabbit in his new tune Livin' In Sin.

singing along with Anxiety, I found myself making this segue without even noticing it at first"
Anxiety
Why am I never where I am supposed to be?
There's a shadow hanging over me,
oh, yesterday came suddenly
and same thing here with Alabama Pines:
You can't drive through Talladega on a weekend in October.
Head up north to Jacksonville. Cut around and over.
When you're riding sixteen hours and there's nothing much to do
And you don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through

in 77 or 78 my mom dragged me and my younger brother against our will to Johnson City, TN to see Eddie Rabbitt at Freedom Hall. As an unenlightened 11-year old I took great delight in pissing her off by calling him "Eddie _____ (word that kind of rhymes with rabbit and is a common homophobic slur)" at any opportunity IIRC, Margo Smith was the opening actbovine knievel wrote:Dan Auerbach is channeling some Eddie Rabbit in his new tune Livin' In Sin.

The opening bit from the Stones' "Monkey Man" sounds like the "House of Cards" theme.
Re: musical brain dump....or things i think i hear
"Ask the Angels" from Radio Ethiopia sounds like an outtake from Alice Cooper's Love it to Death. And I mean that as a compliment.
