I'll take Manhattan in a garbage bag
with Latin written on it that says
"it's hard to give a shit these days."
Manhattan's sinking like a rock
into the filthy Hudson, what a shock.
They wrote a book about it.
They said it was like ancient Rome.

The perfume burned his eyes
holding tightly to her thighs
Let the outside air in

There's honesty, and then there's truth
And there's a thin, but un-moving line between the two
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

I was hoping someone would go with Dirty Boulevard (for some reason that song has been in my head a lot of late) but this works just as well :D :D From my favorite album of the 80s

Long distance runner, what you holdin' out for?
Caught in slow motion in a dash for the door.
The flame from your stage has now spread to the floor
You gave all you had. Why you wanna give more?
The more that you give, the more it will take
To the thin line beyond which you really can't fake.
Son, this ain't a dream no more, it's the real thing

Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Living this way, each day is a dream.
What am I, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?

The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in gloom in the sickroom
And talk to yourself till you die.
Now it's dark.

Memories are just dead men making trouble.
Don't hurt people, and don't take their stuff.

Walk away and taste the pain
Come again some other day
Aren't you glad you weren't afraid
Funny how the price gets paid

So let the game start, you better run you little wild heart
You can run through all the nights and all the days
But just across the county line, a stranger passing through put up a sign
That counts the men fallen away to the price you pay, and girl before the end of the day,
I'm gonna tear it down and throw it away

Son, this ain't a dream no more, it's the real thing

Well, just think of all that we've been through
The world we were building, me and you
How could all those years be tossed away
In just one moment, in just one day?
Don't hurt people, and don't take their stuff.

So, honey, It's the end of the affair,
It's the end of the affair, and I don't care
So, sugar, been a long hard dirty year
Been a long hard dirty year, my dear

You've got all your problems, I've got mine
(my hands are tied behind me)
All I ever do is waste your time
(I don't believe it's true)
It ain't right
It ain't right
I keep it all together for the sake of the kids.

Lord, lord Miss Sally, why all your cryin'?
Been around here three long days, you're lookin' like you're dyin'.
Just step yourself outside, and look up at the stars above
Go on downtown baby, find somebody to love.

Meanwhile I ain't wastin' time no more
'Cause time goes by like pouring rain, and much faster things.

Tonight do me a favor on your way to do me wrong
Drop me at a honky tonk, don't leave me here alone
I washed and waxed the car today, I even filled the tank
If you're gonna drive me crazy, drive me to drink

I can't understand, she let go of my hand
An' left me here facing the wall
I'd sure like to know, why she did go
But I can't get close to her at all

Though we kissed through the wild blazing nighttime
She said she would never forget
But now morning is clear, it's like I ain't here
She acts like we never met
Son, this ain't a dream no more, it's the real thing

Well, she oughta be 'cause Ethyl's dead

Ethyl, Ethyl, let me squeeze you in my arms
Ethyl, Ethyl, come and freeze me with your charms

Streets are like a slaughterhouse, turn right on the red
Here come pedestrians, night of living dead
It was them, it wasn't me
It was them, it wasn't me
Guess they should have stayed in bed
I keep it all together for the sake of the kids.
