Best Country/Southern Rock Artists not from The South
Might be a good topic for a thread. Guess I'll start at the beginning with Hank Snow. From Canada. The maritime provinces.

I first heard of her on this Americana sampler CD I got for like 99 cents, it had the live version of Hockey Skates off Building 55 - I picked up Failer and the rest as they say is history. I love her cover of the Outfield's "Your Love"

Surprised The Jayhawks (MN) & Blue Rodeo (Canada) haven't been mentioned.

And I don't consider the Stones a Country/Southern Rock band at all, despite the fact that they play some songs in that genre.
Disagree.

Calling the Stones "country artists" does seem to be stretching the point.
Just my opinion.

Gillian Welch has lived in Nashville for many years, but she was born in NYC and moved to Los Angeles when she was a young child.
