I'm holding dwindling hope that this is good.
I couldn't get into Union at all, but Notes of Blue was fucking great.

My hot take: Farrar's best work (since American Central Dust) has been with New Multitudes and the Farrar/Gibbard album
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

Is it hot if it's true?

Excellent. It was my album of the year that year. Farrar wrote (I believe) all but one song, and hearing a different voice sing his songs was a revelation.

Weren't the lyrics all from unreleased Kerouac poems?

Yeah, something like that. A la Mermaid Avenue or New Multitudes. Farrar wrote most of the music, though (Gibbard only wrote the title track, if I'm remembering correctly)
