I never got to see this amazing man play live. Of course, I wear out The Last Waltz, but I never got to connect with this man in person. I'm sorry for that. What an amazing bass player (probably my favorite), singer, and spirit. RIP.

The story in Levon Helm's biography about Rick (a trained butcher) trying to gut a deer they'd struck & killed is one of the funniest things I've ever read....will bring tears to your eyes, it's so funny.
