Blue Mountain/Cary Hudson (dime)
Centro-Matic
Felice Brothers
Dexateens
Hayes Carll

I also delved far deeper into the catalog of familiar and established classic rock acts like Skynyrd and Faces as a direct result of being part of 9B/3DD. There's a whole lot more of stuff I'm forgetting, but the 5 above come immediately to mind.

Props to Lajakes for turning everyone onto the Mother Hips - even though Bovine somehow snuck in the the AOTW thread.

Sorry, chief. That was a compliment, a tip of the hat. You obviously have had more influence on board members' musical adventures, including mine, than anyone ("contagious"). It's also pretty clear you're a good salesman/representative for the music you love ("dangerous as a used car salesman").

True story. At the end of the day, I think it's better off that it all falls under the umbrella of 9B/3DD. The rest is purely semantics. This place is a shining example of people with divergent musical backgrounds and experiences that came here because they love Drive-By Truckers. In the process they have broadened their listening horizons far beyond what they every imagined. In addition to some incredible, under-the-radar bands that many have shared here, I think a lot of stereotypes about previously-dismissed bands have been stripped away.

Yes. At least for me, there's been as much of this as actual new discoveries, which in turn has made me a better listener overall. Some of the many benefits of being a 3DDer.

Another great resource for checking out, as Clams likes to call it, "9B/3DD Music" is http://ninebullets.net/

If I'm not mistaken, the dude who runs this site is 3DD member. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I should have added that I've gotten a lot more into Springsteen and The Faces/early Rod Stewart due to 9B/3DD.

Same goes for a lot of your "standard" alt country artists, ie UT/SV/Wilco, Adams/Whiskeytown, etc. I listened to them all in some capacity before this site, but definitely dug deeper because of it.

Speaking of ninebullets.net, I think he nails it on Jamey Johnson's The Guitar Song.

Someone else I probably wouldn't know about who (rightfully) gets a lot of good press around here is Alejandro Escovedo.

And while we're at it, here's a free sampler from Bloodshot Records on Amazon that's got some Bottle Rox, Alejandro, Bobby Bare Jr, Old 97's, Wayne Hancock and more....

I streamed that album before it came out, and generally agree. It could have been great if it had been edited down. It's still pretty good.

It is a 25-song double album. There are some songs on it I don't care for. But, damn, is it a good record.

Most have already been mentioned.
Deer Tick, Bloodkin, Lucero, and Dexateens are some of the main ones for me.
