I can't believe that for one second....you're having me on.
Take a listen and get back to me.

I dig his JJF - especially w/Dr John - but not more than the Twins

Smitty, listen to JJF off Johnny Winter And Live, and Let it Bleed and Silver Train off of Still Alive and Well, and Stray Cat Blues off of Saints and Sinners back when Johnny was a Rock Star, before he went back to his blues roots. It blew me away, especially his Slide guitar playing on Let it Bleed.

Little Feat's version of "On the Way Down" I think is more superior than Allen Toussaint's original. Humble Pie's version of Walk On Guilded Splinters hotter than Dr John's.

Patterson has even said Jason does it better according to his interview with Greg from the Rock Show a fewweeks back. I agree with that one for sure.

This is the version I know and LOVE. Like I love this song. Turn it way the fuck UP.
but its a cover:
thats not a bad version of the song, but Joanie OWNS it. plus she is well hot. and you know, in a rock band and everything (TWO GREAT rock bands actually: The Runaways, and JJ and the Blackhearts).
For completeness I include the execrable Britters cover. Loathsome bint. She used to be quite attractive, but now I've seen her flappage, stubble and C section scar, I can't unsee it. Eccccccchhhh. I'm playing Joan's version again.

I love teh Toots and the Maytals original also, but I heard this first. This cover (and their cover of Junior Murvin's Police and Theives) got me listening to ska.... found the originals and took it from there
its my theme song today
Cheap Trick over The Move
(although the Move are criminally under appreciated.)
And as much as I love Booker T & the MGs, I'd put The Clash's version of "Time Is Tight" over the original. Or should that be in the blasphemy thread?

What is really a tough call is JW's 'Let It Bleed' cover. Do I blaspheme if I say that is better than the original?

not sure if this is better or just a tribute (not in the Jack Black sense)
The Who's "The Seeker" as performed by Rush.

I don't necessarily think his cover is better than the original, but Johnny Cash deserves mention for taking Hurt and turning it into what he did. Both versions are unique and heartfelt.

"Marry Me" DBT >>> "Already Gone" The Eagles.
I kid, sort of. But they do sound a lot alike. And "Marry Me" is much better.
