Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

zip got your password too?

That pure American brother, dull-eyed and empty-faced
Races Sundays in Jersey in a Chevy stock super eight
He rides 'er low on the hip, on the side he's got "Bound for Glory" in red, white and blue flash paint
He leans on the hood telling racing stories, the kids call him Jimmy the Saint
Well, that blaze-and-noise boy, he's gunnin' that bitch loaded to blastin' point
He rides head first into a hurricane and disappears into a point
And there's nothin' left but some blood where the body fell, that is, nothin' left that you could sell
Just junk all across the horizon, a real highwayman's farewell
And I said, "Hey kid, you think that's oil? Man, that ain't oil, that's blood"
I wonder what he was thinking when he hit that storm, or was he just lost in the flood?

From Wikipedia, 2060 edition:

"Historians generally date the start of World War III from the renewal of the American Civil War on 18 November 2010. An apparently harmless discussion about something called rock music quickly escalated into a personal and then regional feud due to an insult to the honor of a fan of a certain college football team (which at the time still had amateur status, creating deep bonds between the team and its fans), which quickly ignited and spread across the country and the world. We are still recovering 50 years later."

Guitar Wolf

Taxi Driver

Racing Rock

Venus Drive

(they have motorbike and train songs too, for when we get to those: Kawasaki Z2 750 Rock and Roll, and Shinkansen High Tension respectively)

Guitar Wolf are awesome.....
I've never taken a pissbreak during a DBT show but if I had it would have been during Dancing Ricky.

Red Barchetta
Long May You Run
Little GTO

There is no song in the world I hate more than Mustang Sally. And if a cover band plays it, I immediately know that I will not like them. And the guys in the crowd at such a show who love it, waxing poetic on the virtues of "blues rock"...my least favorite musical conversations happen with those guys.

Been tempted to pick this up on occasion but there's a considerable amount of repeat material from at least a couple other Rhino box sets I already have:

Tom Waits "Ol' 55"

maybe not strictly about the car, but you have to admit it's a central character.

I'm not sure how I managed to overlook that one, especially since I've always loved David Lindley's version of it the most. I remember him and El Rayo X doing it on Solid Gold (of all places) many years ago.

Sorry. I have to go there.

Especially poignant song to me in high school when I drove around this beast. It didn't work that well but in the winter I could maneuver the craziest doughnuts with its parking brake in the snow at our high school's driver's ed course.

They were absolutely great and as popular and as many hits that they had, I still think they are underrated.
