My introduction to this band. Aside from maybe the opening track ("Hey Grandma") and "Omaha" I can't say that I really recall ever hearing anything by them. "Omaha" I know because Golden Palominos covered them in the 80's. So far, so good...

I got into this band a few years ago and absolutely love 'em. Truly Fine Citizen and The Place and the Time are awesome! I believe there are still in years long record company battles so some of their really choice earlier stuff (if you can say that about this short-lived band) hasn't got the rerelease treatment.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I'm loving this record so far. I'll probably pick up Skip Spence's Oar album at some point as well.

One of my older brothers introduced this to me but it's been eons since I last heard it. Looking forward to getting reaquainted with it.

I also stumbled upon this last night, a purchase I made several months ago that I thought I'd lost. Thankfully, I had just misplaced it. BTW, I just saw Ian Hunter and the Rant Band at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC recently, my first time seeing him in concert. If any of you out there ever have the opportunity to see him in concert by all means, don't pass it up.

I'm not usually one to go out and purchase albums after someone dies but I made an exception here. While I'm no stranger to Leonard Cohen's music, this is the first one of his albums I've owned.

The Band Music From Big Pink

Another budget bin find, this is a single disc deluxe edition with bonus tracks. This purchase inspired by the recent interview with Lydia Loveless where she listens to Blue by Joni Mitchell for the first time. It reminded me that I'd also never heard that record in it's entirety or this one. Well, I'm guessing there's a pretty good chance I might have heard both of 'em at some point but they are two records I don't own that always make those best albums of all time lists.

...in my opinion, the above is required listening for any music fan. Throw in the self-titled album and Rock of Ages as well.

One of my older brothers also had Stage Fright, which I'm sure I'll pick up at some point as well.

I'm not sure what prompted them to steer away from issues to devoted to individual Southern states but no matter, I'm only too happy to have snatched this up. Nothing against Bonnie Raitt but I opted for an issue with her on the cover though I would have loved the John Lee Hooker one.

this morning i impulse bought a box set of leonard cohen's first 11 albums for cheap on amazon, then regretted it and tried to cancel because that's way too much cohen for me, but it was too late. the next few weeks are going to be more morose than usual.

I recently purchased the deluxe edition of McCartney's Flowers In The Dirt only for the second discs of demos with him and EC. Quite honestly, most are superior to the released versions.

This one isn't on there, but comes from the same sessions.

Now it's dark.

Good to see you around these parts again, CTK!

Been building my Kinks vinyl collection up. Picked this up over the weekend.
