Re: Recent Purchases
much to my wife's chagrin (she loves the music but doesn't love the amount of $ spent) I am always buying music. Always have and probably always will. Here is what has arrived lately (last few days), with a lot of stuff in transit as well

No doubt, long overdue. I hardly ever leave town these days, probably fewer out-of-town days than any year that I've lived herebovine knievel wrote:Whatever it takes to get you to my house!

Re: Recent Purchases
Daniel turned in a stellar, somewhat surprise set (it wasn't announced until Saturday) at Slim's in Raleigh yesterday afternoon as part of their annual Hopscotch Hangover day party. He's got a bit of a different, more twang heavier sound on this record than I recall from seeing him before. A year or so ago, he and his band played for maybe eleven of us at the Pour House in Raleigh. So, cool to see him play to a packed house yesterday. Same for Lydia Loveless at Tir na nog on Thursday. Her previously shows here have drawn relatively well but not as well as she deserves. I certainly hope this Hopscotch appearance will help change that the next time she comes to town.

Pre-order.
At $40, for t-shirt, 3x LP, a slip mat and some guitar picks I'll never use, not a horrible price.

Re: Recent Purchases
Some nice used bin finds. First time I've seen that El Rayo-X EP on compact disc, I've had the vinyl for years. The CD edition appears to be some sort of Chinese import. The Joe Boyd book is brand new. Really enjoyed his talk and screening of the James Booker doc, Bayou Mahahajah last night in Chapel Hill. It was originally supposed to be a screening and discussion of the long delayed Aretha Franklin doc Amazing Grace but she persists in halting it's release.

Re: Recent Purchases
Even though I'm only vaguely familiar with Bloodkin (I've seen them in concert at least once, maybe twice), I couldn't pass up the deal ($20) for this boxset. Last night, Daniel Hutchens was in town with "Todd Nance & Friends" (which included John Neff). Though I don't dislike Widespread Panic, they're usually not my cup of tea. That said, I did enjoy their second set last night.

Re: Recent Purchases
Picked up the last copy of this in stock at Best Buy today. Apparently, even at other area Best Buys it was few and far between. Schoolkids in Raleigh didn't get in any copies at all. Found Hindu Love Gods used.
