alltime albums w/great vocals or singing or whatever....

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Spent a good part of the day w/ Mr. Otis Redding, which tempts me to change my list to:

1. Otis Redding
<end>

I love going back and REALLY hearing stuff i take for granted.

Aaron Neville needs to be on the list somewhere, too.

What I meant was, al green deserves to be mentioned on every page of this discussion. ;)

That's some pretty fancy footwork for very early on an Oklahoma morn :) But I do feel better - i would have been very disappointed in myself if i hadn't put rev al near the top of the list.

Want some singin'? Go find Widespread Panic's version of "Tall Boy" from Bonarroo 2002 with Dottie Peeples & the People's Choice. Hot damn. Like going to the coolest church on earth.

OTOH, I did fail to mention Stevie Wonder.

Tons of great music of course, but the vocals on Fullfillingness' First Finale and Innervisions are particularly noteworthy to me.

I understand he has a new album of gospel covers produced by Joe Henry coming on the 9th of November that is supposed to be absolutely kick ass.

"Aaron Neville sings gospel?" I think that makes "supposed to kick ass" totally redundant :D :D Will definitely be looking forward to that one.

Saw Lone Justice open for U2 a million years ago. And yep, she can sing but have never heard much I've actually wanted to own.

Speaking of gospel, somehow left Aretha's Amazing Grace off my original list. Ooops.

And i don't think anybody's named Sam Cooke, gospel or popular. The Man and His Music is probably the best collection.

belated follow up on my Dead Can Dance post earlier, but this dude (Brenden Perry) has possibly the best voice I've ever heard. It's not a rock n' roll voice, but it's amazingly pure and powerful. crazy good
