Saw him on Wednesday in a packed club (100 people). One of the best shows I've seen in a while. They really rocked out. Chatted a bit. Very not into touring. Was bitching about being on the road for 8 days.

You know how every once in a long, long while you put on a new album and it just GRABS you from the first couple of notes? The kind of thing that makes you whip your head around towards the source of the music (not so easy if you're wearing earbuds, but still...)? I'm currently on the 5th song of Sunny War's Anarchist Gospel and I am captivated. Always a risk to comment based on one listen to say nothing of a portion of 1 listen, but I'm pretty sure this is the real deal.

We've been out of power here in Austin for eight days and just got back up. It's been so quiet, that the dog started howling to the bagpipes on Mull of Kintyre. She's never spontaneously howled before. I was so happy to spin a record again, I howled with her.

All good. The ice storm knocked close to 400,000 people out of power. TONS of trees down. It took a long time to get everything put back together. We drew the great luck of being one of the last folks to get back up and running - 99.64% of the city had power when were relit. Not how I had hoped to hit the top 1%.
