feel like one of these days that 60s british blues boom will really click with me. not sure thisll be the album to do it but it sounds great at least, and keeps things fairly tight (10 songs, 30 minutes)

the 60s girl group scene is a seemingly endless well of the most endearingly shallow music ever

really enjoying this lately, after it fell out of my rotation pretty quick last year. tons of obvious reference points but its such a well crafted pop album

Lewis Grizzard standup albums. It's been over a decade since I've listened to him, and 20 since I read him. Not much of his act would be considered PC today, but growing up in North Georgia, it's what I know.

conor oberst evokes this weird nostalgia in me, strong but specifically for a time in which i hated his music
hes grown on me though, largely thanks to ruminations, which i think is his best album
also its insane how easily emmylou can harmonize with absolutely anybody

I have yet to leave that phase. It's less his music and more his vocal affectation that annoys me.Shakespeare wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
that was a big part of it for me too
the main reason i loved ruminations so much is he doesnt constantly sound like hes trying really hard to prove hes a great writer (which i think hes always been), maybe due to maturing a bit, maybe not. the weird vocal tics are still there but easier to ignore, i found

This one really has ahold of me. Side one is just starting its third time through. It really is a wonderful record:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I'm off the vinyl for a moment to hear some piece of tripe no one was willing to release fifty years ago...
...by which I mean, "HOLY FUCKING SHIT! A NEW 1968 KINKS SONG!" I don't see the studio version released before, though I did see a listing for one soundcheck performance.
