I saw on Shonnas IG that she is playing with John Paul White (formerly of the Civil Wars, now living in Florence and performing solo) in his touring band in 2019. Should be pretty cool. I saw him play with the Hoods and a bunch of other MS artists in Tallahassee and he seems like a really cool guy. Apparently he and Patterson are buddies.

I hope he's better as a solo act. I honestly thought that the Civil Wars was a cheaper than cheap knockoff of Shovels & Rope, but with a dude snging Cary Ann's parts.

Civil Wars had/have much cleaner, prettier voices and sang a lot more ballads. Not really comparable

Agreed. That was simply a very poor take on The Civil Wars. Also, it would be hard for either band to be a knock off when they both formed at about the exact same time.

Poor take or not, I had not heard of them before, but saw S&R when they were just billed as Cary Ann. I was told that if I liked S&R, I'd like the CW, which I certainly didn't. Just my opinion.

We were able to see John Paul White solo show twice last year. We really enjoyed it. Once at a small venue in Seattle and then in a home show back in NC. Very cool guy & talented guy. He previewed several songs that will be on the new album.

I'm excited to hear that Shonna is going to be touring with him. Now I'm going to have to find out if he will be coming anywhere close to Raleigh on his album tour with the band.
