Jason Isbell, songwriter (Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit)
Cumberland Gap was also nominated for Best American Roots Song but it's the David Rawlings & Gillian Welch song (good tune BTW).

Rolling Stone compared JI's version to Decoration Day and Go It Alone. No and no.
Cumberland Gap is "Good" with bad lyrics.

Agreed, especially the lyrics. I just meant the sound and tempo of the song.
