The dates have been released. Three night run in Austin, three night run at the Beacon in NYC and a stop at Red Rocks. Looking like a strong tour to support his new album...

The Mountain Goats are opening some of the shows. Awesome. Jason's e-mail blast indicated he is also coming out with a new live album on record store day in April.

"An exclusive vinyl release, Live from Welcome to 1979, will also be available on Record Store Day. The 6-song EP was recorded direct to lacquer in November.

Live from Welcome to 1979 Tracklist

Side A
1. Can't You Hear Me Knocking
2. Storm Windows
3. Heart on A String

Side B
1. Atlantic City
2. Sway
3. Never Gonna Change"

Yep Nashville is it.

Get 2 for the Philly show. He's moved up to the new Fillmore which is a really nice 3500 capacity venue. Next stop the Wells Fargo Center?

Got all 3 for Austin. I'll probably only make it to two but not sure which ones yet.

Thanks to the Spotify presale, I scored two tickets for Red Rocks, row 37 dead center, pretty excited about that.

Moved up to headlining Merriweather in Columbia MD too, somewhere in the 19K capacity range.
I'm sure he won't sell it out but that's a big commitment from the venue on a late June Friday night...
I'm in for this one.
Makes me glad that I recently caught him at the Hershey Theater a few months ago...

I am in for New Haven. I'm excited to see him again at College Street Music Hall. His show there in 2015 was really good. I'm also excited to be seeing a show that has The Mountain Goats on the bill.

I'm skipping the Beacon shows because I don't want to be yelled at to sit down by people who learned about Jason's music on NPR.

Anyone hitting Portsmouth, VA 4/26, with J. Roddy opening? I haven't seen Jason since he played at the Norva in '09 or '10 to (maybe) 150 people. I stupidly wore my Hood/Cooley '08 tee, which probably stood out like a sore thumb - not my intention. Excited to see him again.

So Jason just announced 3 shows at the Chicago Theater for August 31-September 2. Tickets on sale Friday, not sure yet if there is a pre-sale. Ticket prices not yet announced, but this will be a pricey ticket, I'm guessing something in the range of $75 each. While I don't believe that he will fill the place on 3 consecutive nights (he ain't Wilco), this is pretty freaking ambitious. 3 consecutive shows at a 3,600 seat capacity theater. Wow.

Strong set by Jason last night. Better than I was expecting. He opened with Anxiety which I thought was kinda weak, then Cumberland and Tupelo but I thought he connected best mid-set on the slower songs where he played the acoustic guitar - Codeine, Alabama Pines, Cover Me Up, Traveling Alone, to name a few. Amanda and Jason have a real Johnny & June thing going with their banter, and it seemed to me like Amanda is being featured more prominently than before with her fiddle and vocals. Their singing and interaction on Vampires and Cover Me Up was pretty special. Decoration Day and a very good version of Outfit were the only DBT songs played. Derry has got to be the happiest member of the 400 Unit - he has two beautiful new keyboard setups to play plus a shiny new accordion - I remember the days (not too long ago) when he played one dinky keyboard that looked like the same one we bought for my daughter at Radio Shack. Couple of great Allman Bros tributes - Amanda closed her opening set with Midnight Rider (with Jason playing slide guitar off to the side of the stage) and Jason closed his set with a tremendous - and I do mean TREMENDOUS - version of Whipping Post. The Fillmore is a beautiful and thoroughly modern venue that holds 2,500 - and it was pretty much filled to capacity. Great show.
