Old Isbell set list (7/5/08, Columbus OH)

Post by Sirk »

My first Isbell show was July 5, 2008, at the Basement in Columbus, OH. I didn't keep track of the set list and it's the only one I don't have a set list for. Did any of you attend that show or know of a place I could find a set list? (I already tried a google search, so I'm hoping one of you may have attended and kept a list.)

Thanks,
Sirk

I'm pretty sure I was at that show, wasn't it cut off at the end by the owner? Zip and Monty were there too, but I have no idea what the setlist was. Sorry.
Just put the goddamn record on and enjoy it

Yeah, it was cut off early, but Jason played his encore with the houselights and post-show music on.

I distinctly remember him playing his DBT stuff (Outfit, DD, NGC, GLL), Try, The Magician, The Assassin......don't remember any covers
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Psycho Killer was played.

As for covers, I remember he played "The Assassin" and "Sway."

I "discovered" DBT & Isbell in 2008 and had the good fortune of having both of them pass through Columbus shortly after my discovery. I checked out the DBT show in May and the Isbell show in July, but in those early days, I still had no idea at the time how huge both would become to me. The DBT set list was easy to find, but in retrospect, it bugs me that I don't have the Isbell one.

And funny about the overall intertwining of DBT & Isbell....those two shows I saw in 2008? DBT on 5/7, Isbell on 7/5.

Actually, I bet Monty did write down the set list. I haven't seen him post on here in a while though.

Wow...ain't been around these parts in awhile. How ya'll doing? Zip texted me last night and asked if I had this. Fortunately for some odd reason I kept a little journal in 2008 with setlists from concerts. I have never done that for any other year. Usually I just throw whatever paper I wrote it down on into a box never to be seen again. But you lucked out on this one!

Yeah, that's definitely not the Basement stage (which says "The Basement" in big lettering behind the band...Jason wasn't using a backdrop at this point either). There were no horns that night, and he didn't play "Into The Mystic". It would also be physically impossible to take a photo from this angle at The Basement. Anyone that has been there would know why. There are terrible sight lines for all but the people in the pit...
