Post by rlipps »

Just came across this article and it mentions that Jason and the 400 Unit will be recording a live album in Birmingham in August.

I guess this explains his "live taping" ban...

He should do a 2 disc set. 1 solo and one with 400 U.

I was thinking more of a 4 disc boxset.

Well won't be making it to that taping but I sure will look forward to that record. Jason seems to be at the top of his game right now.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit invite you to be part of the recording of their first live record. The band will play at Workplay in Birmingham, AL on Friday, August 17th and at Crossroads in Huntsville, AL on Saturday, August 18th. Tickets for both nights are $25 or $15 for a single night. The record will be released later this fall.

Umm...first live record? Talk about underlining your contractual obligation records...

Wasn't Live At the Twist And Shout a limited release? Doesn't change the fact that it's technically his first live album (and that it's actually an EP, not a full length album) but I'm guessing there's a lot of folks out there (especially newer fans) that aren't even aware of it. Plus, he's on a different label now (Lightening Rod) so I'm not sure what contractual obligations would have to do with it since the live EP was released when he was still with New West.

The live EP was a Record Store Day release, so it probably wasn't part of a contract. Not sure, but that would be my guess.

I thought or had assumed the deal was that he owed New West an album and delivered as minimal of a record as possible, but I very well may be mistaken. It just seemed like a strange release, a six song live release with five slow songs, but I may be entirely off base on the contractual obligation part then...

Will this be well attended, or does anyone think that DBT playing Asheville that weekend will affect the turnout? I've never been to an Isbell show in Alabama, and I'm sure he has a hell of a following there, and AL might be a little far from NC, but I was just curious what y'all thought.

I found that list on Tiderinsider and edited it best I could remember. I'm pretty sure it was We've Met.

Not sure where that came from. I was there and kept note of the setlist the entire show. There is no such song as "here we rest" as far as i know. I posted the setlist here: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/jason-isb ... c161a.html
