Jason Isbell via twitter:
This rekkid is shaping up to be our most accordion-heavy project to date. Seriously.

What songs fron the new album have they been playing live?

"Alabama Pines" would be another. It's got a thread of it's own but I guess it's worth mentioning again here:

Really looking forward to JI's new record. It always takes me a bit to digest a new Truckers album but Jason's seem to hit me quicker. Love GoGo now looking forward to this.

When's the due date? I'm hoping for the best... I ranked his last album #1 of 2009.

When did Jimbo shave his head?

I didn't catch The 400 Unit at all last year. So I'm a bit out of the loop obviously. Seeing them Saturday. Hoping for lots of new tunes...

honestly...
im not really looking forward to this record that much!
not digging the new songs ive heard from it so far (minus bama pines)!
the others got old real quick!

but u never know it might be amazing..
it is a real 400 unit record!
the whole band helped make instead of jason already having these songs on the shelf like he did for the last one!
he wrote these with the band in mind.

I'm pretty sure that was the case for the last one...you might be thinking of Sirens of the Ditch. I think the self titled album was a full band project from the get.

I for one, can't wait to hear the new record. Can't say I've heard any of the new material, but I got no reason to believe it won't be up to par with his earlier release. Aprils a LONG ways away.

If this is the official thread, then I'm gonna officially declare this my no 1 most highly anticipated album of this year (higher than GGB)..I also hope he does an east coast swing where I can get to more than one show.

I think the new songs sound great, the 2 I've heard..!
In my blood, there's gasoline..

I, for one, am anxiously awaiting the new album. Looks like he has played "Go it Alone" a few times live as well. Looks like there are going to be several good songs to pick from for a favorite!

It's definitely out there. I don't understand why any band would announce an album 3-4 months in advance of it coming out (like DBT did with GGB). Radiohead was on the right track with In Rainbows, where they announced it was coming out and then a week later had it up on their website. I'm surprised more bands didn't follow this - there must be some benefit in having your album leak weeks or months ahead of time, although I'm not sure what it could be.

^Even with the long lead-in time, I can't recall any album I've been interested in hearing leaking this far in advance of the release date, as in less than 2 weeks after its existence was officially announced and probably before promo copies have started going out. It's strange, strange enough to make me think that either 1) someone in Isbell's camp or the record company's is a dick or 2) it was leaked on purpose for "hype" reasons (I have no idea if anyone actually does that, just speculating).

Full disclosure: I DL'd it. :ugeek:

it happens with every album, it's just that most bands don't release promo copies 3 months in advance of official release
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

Not been able to find a copy to DL yet, but my search led me to a forum where several people had heard it and were discussing it. Most seemed to like it okay, some were disappointed and most agreed it didn't really have any "rockers". One guy said it was "good dad-rock" or something like that.

After a couple listens, I'm absolutely loving it. Improvement on the last album; wouldn't say he knocked it out of the park by any means, but this is a solid album.

Someone said this album needed to be more "Try" & less "Grown", but I think this one is more "The Magician"
the first side is the best IMO, but it's very solid in the singer/songwriter vein

Half way thru first listen. I skimmed through all the songs and now I'm giving a proper listen. I am really liking it so far. The warm production is miles better than the last "slick" album. I like the more country-acoustic songs way better. a good progression for him.
