Flights are STUPID expensive right now. Not sure why. Still just keeping an eye on it and hoping it drops.
I bought mine when the dates were offically announced just because I didn't have much faith in them getting cheaper. I have still been tracking it through Hopper and it seems like my route has held pretty steady. Still going to end up being $100+ more than last year was, though.

Fuck the airlines. Seems like I can't fly (or even make reservations) anymore without coming away bruised, battered and telling "can you believe this?" stories.

Living where I do, I'm pretty accustomed to paying far too much for airfare. Homecoming is actually usually the cheapest trip I take in a year because my little airport actually flies a full-size plane direct to ATL. My personal preference is not to use a budget airline (especially in these times) so I'm resigned to paying too much just to not have a sore ass & back and hopefully be less likely to catch covid since the air actually moves.

Denver to Atlanta on Delta is $470(!!!) round-trip for those dates right now. I'm not sure I've ever paid more than $300 for that flight, and I've taken it many, many, many times.
Might end up looking at Frontier. Not my first choice.

It is easy for me to spend your money but I'm paying well over $400 for a r/t flight less than half as long as yours - I'm not sure it's going to get any better any time soon. As for Frontier i'm sure you're familiar w/ the minuses and whatever pluses there may be.

I paid $497 r/t with Delta. That was significantly better than last couple times I flew in ‘22 where I had to get creative (i.e. using airlines such as Allegiant in addition to alternative routes) to get under $600 (though those flights included connections). It’s just a really shitty time to be flying.
Going Friday & Saturday.
First Homecoming. First time in Athens.
Work is paying for it too, hell yeah. Flight, rental car, hotel & meals all taken care of.
Really excited.
I'll be wearing a WarHen Records hat, no doubt, so please say hello if you see me around.
Share your recs for the town, I'm looking forward to exploring.
Cool Warren. Friday-12:00-3:00–Heathen Hangout at Cine with a solo set by Jay Gonzalez then a Dial Back Sounds records band showcase with the Williamson Brothers (I think you may know them ) and others at Flicker bar from 5:00-8:00. Saturday—12:00-3:00—the auction at Nuci’s Space. I’m sure we’ll run into each other.

Sweet, thanks for the info!
The Nuci's auction is definitely on my radar.
Looking forward to popping into some record stores as well.

Tracy and I are in again this year for all 4 nights. This will be our 11th consecutive Homecoming, and we've seen almost as many DBT shows at the 40 Watt as we've seen all other DBT shows combined lol. As long as we actually make all the shows this year we'll have seen DBT 29 times at the 40 Watt and 28 times combined all all other venues...but shortly after Homecoming we're seeing two nights at the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw and two nights at the Orange Peel in Asheville, which will make the count 29 at the 40 Watt and 32 at all other venues. Anyhow, that shit is interesting to me

If you haven't booked flights yet, Round Trip from Philly was ridiculously expensive (at least for any flight not at 6:00 AM), but two one-way flights on different airlines were <$300 total... worth trying from various locations to save $$$

Your point stands, but I might quibble with your math (assuming you're talking Boston to Atlanta). My favorite fun geography fact is that Atlanta is west of Detroit.

Thanks. Math/spatial relationships have never been a strong suit for me.

I have no sense of direction and could get lost in a phone booth (do kids know what they are?), but I love maps and can stare at them for hours; thus I find the Detroit-Atlanta fact fascinating!

Another DBT fan in Raleigh! Hope to meet you at Homecoming and probably see you in Saxapahaw and Asheville for the "local" shows.

Can't believe you folks haven't met. You're always at the same shows

Too soon to start a roll call?
If not, I'm in all four nights (for better or worse).
