Dayton, OH - 7/23/22

Post by Sterling Bigmouth »

Do you like minor league baseball? What about square pizza? Maybe even rock shows in Masonic Centers? If you answered yes to any of these questions (but mainly the latter), then Dayton, OH is the center of the universe tonight!

First off, the Dayton Masonic Hall is borderline immaculate as a venue. The room is beautifully designed, the sound is great, and it was incredibly well run. Unfortunately the show was probably only about half full (if that), but I’m guessing Dayton isn’t the strongest DBT market. Patterson mentioned that this was only their 2nd show ever in the city, and their 1st in 22 years (fun fact: he apparently wrote My Sweet Annette in the parking lot that day).

The show was 2+ hours of tight rock and roll. There was a slight hiccup after the opening song when the fire alarm went off and didn’t stop, but Cooley launched straight into Birthday Boy and the band didn’t miss a step, and luckily the alarm only lasted the length of the song. It’s so hard to pick highlights each show, but far and away my favorite moment of the night was Jay closing the show by playing the closing notes of A&F on the venue’s pipe organ near us, giving the song an entirely different vibe. Certainly a rock show to remember.

Looks like a good one. Would’ve finally gotten A&F had I been able to go

Any Pollard sightings?

Plenty of GBV shirts, but sadly no Bob.
